Today we walked 13.9 miles from Roncesvalles to Zubiri. It was a pretty walk for the most part, through farm lands and small towns. Man, everything is so green and tiny little wildflowers are everywhere. We walked by herds of cattle & sheep. We stopped for breakfast in Burgette..
A small village about 3k from Roncesvalles and made famous by Ernest Hemingway. He'd spend time there fishing and drinking with his friends.
There were some pretty long climbs that slowed me down alot. Sharon kept her pace slow because of her leg pain. Glad to report that it seems to have resolved.
Then came the descent! Holy crap! It started out very manageable, though so long, it felt as if it would never end. Then came the final 1 1/2 miles into Zubiri. Another knee shredder!. We walked for almost 9 hours..we are slow!
Tomorrow, we head for Pamplona where. I hope to meet up with Joe & Annie. Another 13 mile day.
Right now, it's bedtime
Glad to see things are going okay for the two of you. Hope the leg pain goes away with some stretching and care!
