The Lost Donkey

This quite possibly will be the most memorable moment of our Camino.,..we were walking out of Puenta la Riena this morning and as we approached the arch leading to the *Queens Bridge",  we spotted a miniature donkey quietly munching away on what little grass he could find.  We stopped to take photos of this adorable animal, thinking hewas waiting for his owner. Soon, this gentleman of about 60 years old came running down the street toward us with tears running down his face.  He approached the donkey, wrapped his arms around it and hung on tight.  He told us he had been looking for his donkey half the night.  We were all in tears watching this reunion.  The last we saw this man and his beloved donkey, he was leading him across the Queens Bridge.

The rest of the day was quite enjoyable.  We walked about 18k from Puente la Reina to Valluerta.  Our friend Carla from South Africa walked with us.  She is quite wonderful with a dry wit.  We walked through the beautiful  hilltop village of Cirauqui.  I would have liked to explore it more, but we had a fair distance to walk.

Somewhere along the way, I developed significant pain in my left foot. Damn..what is causing that!  When we arrived at Alberque La Casa Magica, I asked for some ice and I've taken Aleve and rubbed Arnica cream into it.  Tomorrow it shall be good.

Enjoy the photos.  Sorry, I am I unable to attach descriptions. This blog app kinda sucks.  Look for the photos of Francois and the docket

Time for bed...I feel like I am getting stronger.  My pack is feeling pretty darn good.  Sharon is doing well.  She is walking much stronger.

More tomorrow or the next day.  Buen Camino
